HELLEN WESTERHOF
Cooling Model for BSH Bosch Siemens Hausgeräte
Cooling (not the fridge!) is the basic idea behind the design for the 'Icoobe' cooling and cool room system. This problem orientation is to be found in the aspects of energy efficiency, transport logistics, assembly and hygiene as a factor that influences the system concept. This also holds true for the use of new materials such as aerogel for insulation or the central supply of coolant through the building systems. All elements of the system are dispatched in flat packs, thus substantially reducing storage and transportation costs. Its modularity also enables an unlimited number of assembly variants. The problem of scarcity of living space in the cities of the future influenced the design as a higher-order aspect.
